How to give your heart to God and enter His family (from the Bible)
Hear the truth that God loves me deeply and wants me to experience His good purposes that He has planned for my life.
“Everything got started in God and finds its purpose in him.” Colossians 1:16 (Msg)
“Long before God laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, and settled on us as the focus of his love.” Ephesians 1:4 (Msg)
Express my need for God, admitting that I’ve lived for myself (as a sinner) and I need God’s forgiveness for all my wrongs.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (NIV)
“Jesus personally carried the load of our sins in his own body when he died on the cross so we can be finished with sin and live a good life..." 1 Peter 2:24 (Living)
Accept the fact that Jesus Christ died in my place for my sins and rose from the dead so I could enjoy a new relationship with God.
“We’re all like sheep who’ve wandered off … done our own thing, gone our own way. But God has piled all our sins, everything we’ve done wrong, on him (Jesus).” Isaiah 53:6 (Msg)
Receive Christ as my Savior and accept His gift of eternal life.
“To all who received him … he gave the right to become children of God” John 1:12 (NIV)
“Saving is all God’s idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It’s God’s gift from start to finish!” Ephesians 2:8 (Msg)
Trust Christ to be the new leader (Master) of my life from now on.
“Give yourselves to God…and surrender your whole being to him to be used for righteous purposes.” Romans 6:13 (TEV)
A simple prayer you can pray:
“Dear God, I don’t understand it all yet, but I believe You love me and made me for Your purposes. I’m sorry that I’ve lived for myself instead of for You, and I ask for Your forgiveness. Thank You for sending Jesus to pay for all my sins in my place. I trust in Him to be my Savior, and receive Him into my heart. I want Jesus to be the new leader of my life. Thank You for making me Your child. Please help me, as a new Christian, to love You and trust You and live for Your purposes forever. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
